The premises are located inside a 19th century mill (built by the Inghirami’s, an ancient and noble family of Volterra), and the original materials have been used for them as shown by the exposed brickwork façade and the cotto ceilings in the dining halls and some rooms.

With time the granaries, the employees quarters, the barns and the so-called muccheria (cowshed) were added to the actual mill.

In the 1970s the mill closed down and was not used for a long time, until its renovation and the opening of the restaurant in March 1991, when it took the name “Il Vecchio Mulino”.

The hotel, built ‘around’ the renowned restaurant, offers its guests large rooms, equipped with all conveniences and in the style of the building. The following are also available: a large conference/reception hall for up to 250 people, a terrace, a courtyard and a private car park.
